What Kind of Fabrics Are Used in Garden Furniture?
1.
Cotton
Cotton is a widely used natural fiber of plant origin. Cotton fabric, which is mainly used in indoor furniture, is not preferred in outdoor furniture. The most important reason is that natural fibers such as cotton are more absorbent than synthetic fibers.
2.
Olefin
Olefin is a petroleum-based synthetic fabric. It has a smooth surface. It is more comfortable to use outdoors than fabrics produced from naturally obtained fibers. Resistant to strong sunlight and moisture.
3.
Polyester
Polyester, like olefin, is a petroleum-based synthetic fabric. Polyester fabrics are generally preferred in rattan garden furniture. Polyester fabrics dry faster, are more easily ironed and are easier to clean than fabric types made from natural fibers. The water-repellent property of the fabric coated with Teflon material during production increases. For this reason, tightly woven and Teflon-coated polyester fabrics should be used in rattan garden furniture.
4.
With linen
Flax is a natural fiber obtained from the trunk of the plant called linum usitatissium. Linen fabrics are very durable and do not retain air. However, they are not preferred in outdoor products due to their water absorbing properties.
5.
Acrylic
This type of fabric is a synthetic fabric type made from polyester. It is a fabric suitable for outdoor conditions, resistant to strong sunlight, quick-drying and easy to clean.
